Taking a summer pause

Writer's picture: akinkandaprayerakinkandaprayer

My hope was to keep up my writing pace throughout the summer, however, life with three kiddos home from school (and a heatwave that just won’t let up) has finally caught up with me. So I’m taking a break from publishing any more essays for the rest of the summer.

Here’s a photo of a crayon that One melted on our driveway in the unrelenting sun:

I can’t believe that 7 months have passed since A Kink and a Prayer went live back in December 2021. 😯

What started as a bit of a joke among my mom friends who were egging me on to start a blog to chronicle my steamy sex life, has turned into so much more for me. These essays have proven a fertile ground for not only journaling about many of PM and my new experiences, but also for processing my own thoughts and feelings about this journey of self-discovery that I’ve been on. And what a smokin’ hot journey it has been. *fans herself*

My hope is, as it always has been, that my essays provide a space for others to laugh and cry and blush and cringe with me. And that maybe somebody out there might connect in some way with the path that PM and I have been on and our discovery that after three kiddos and two decades of marriage, we can still light each other up like fireworks on the Fourth of July. It might have taken a little tinkering and some conscious effort, but we somehow got our groove back. And it’s been one friggin’ hot ride. *winks*

I do plan on continuing to draft new essays over the last part of my summer, as well as polish things already in the works. But alas! I do not plan on posting anything for your consumption until after Labor Day (September 5th).

At this point, I think Fridays will continue to be my publishing day each week. Look for something new (and likely it’ll be an essay that continues to explore the idea of ethical non-monogamy) Friday, September 9th.

Once my family has settled into their school schedule, I’ll be in a better place to determine my anticipated posting schedule for the fall. So look for that announcement in September as well.

If you haven’t already, I encourage you to subscribe to my site in order to get notifications on new essay posts. Be sure to click on Subscribe, rather than simply filling out a Contact form. I may have your contact information, but if you haven’t subscribed, you won’t get automatic updates that let you know when I’ve published something new to the site.

Another way to stay abreast (hee hee) of the happenings over here at A Kink and a Prayer is via social media. You can “like” and follow A Kink and a Prayer on Facebook and/or follow me on Instagram @akinkandaprayer to stay up to date on my fall publishing schedule.

And last but not least, thank you to not only those who have followed me regularly, but also to those who stop by only once and a blue moon to see what’s cooking. I feel so honored, and more than a little mystified, that my essays have found any public interest at all. *shakes head*

Catch you on the back-to-school flip side!

Until next time, stay kinky 😉

Enjoy your summer! Cherish the time with your kids. My daughter just turned 20 & is no longer living with hubs & I but she still keeps a room here & begs to keep it as is. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you! That is so very sweet about your daughter wanting to keep her room. As much as they exhaust me, I really do enjoy our kiddos. And summers with them go by so very fast! I hope our children will still feel such an attachment to us and their home (and to one another) when they’re adults, too. 🥰
